Laser-assisted hatching (LAH) is an advanced technology that is performed in combination with IVF that increases the success rate of embryo implantation. If one is experiencing IVF failure due to unexplained reasons, assisted hatching is performed with IVF that helps the embryo attach to the woman's womb.

Females that are of more than 36 years of age and have thick zona pellucida because of high FSH hormone. In such a case, the egg will not hatch and does not attach to the womb. Hence, laser-assisted hatching helps in such a case of infertility.
